Support the Pono Bots Robotics Team!
Have you heard the news?! The “Pono Bots” Robotics team from Nānākuli, in collaboration with the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, has been invited to the National SeaPerch Challenge in Atlanta, Georgia! The competition will be held this May 19-20 at Georgia Institute of Technology.
Through their after school PALS program (Place-based Afterschool Literacy Support- a unit within Student Equity Excellence and Diversity (SEED) at UH Mānoa), Pono Bots students have been learning and exploring the wonderful world of underwater robotics.
SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting. The SeaPerch Program provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science, and mathematics while developing their teamwork, problem-solving, and technical skills.
The Pono Bots and PALS need to quickly raise the funds in order to send the four deserving students and two teacher/coaches to this competition in Atlanta. The cost of attending is $1,800 per person. We are hoping this is a worthwhile cause that you would be interested in supporting. If so, tax deductible donations can be made out to UH Foundation and mailed to:
